The Nashville food community has been abuzz for the last month. Everyone asking, “have you gotten your tickets yet?”
There are not many events that cause conversations to turn away from upcoming summer fun and towards fall dinners parties. But, then again, September’s Outstanding in the Field is a dinner party not to be missed.
An Outstanding in the Field dinner showcases some of the many reasons why there is such passion and support of local food. Every year from early Spring to late Fall, Outstanding in the Field packs up their long table and travels the country. They choose local farms, ranches, and parks along their journey as stopping points. Every dinner features local ingredients prepared by a local chef. The evening is not only meant to explore bountiful local produce, but the connection between land, food, chef and diner.
Nashville’s feast will be held at Arugula’s Star Farm in Columbia, TN and the food will be prepared by Martha Stamp of Martha’s at the Plantation.
The Fall evening begins with a casual tour of the farm, followed by a five course meal with wine accompaniments. Diners are joined at the long table by the local artisans and farmers who contributed to the meal. Tickets are expensive, $196.65 per person. But, they are less expensive then neighboring Outstanding the the Field dinners (Atlanta, Birmingham, and Asheville) and it truly is a once in a year (in a lifetime) experience.
Tickets are still available, but the events usually do sell out early. Visit Outstandinginthefield.com for more information and take make your reservation.
See you at the table!
